Basics Wintersemester 2011 - 12
– camera, monitoring, pulse
For the topic „Quantified-Self“ (see http://quantifiedself.com/ for further informations), I planned to document a hole day in my life with a self-builded camera. The gadget should not be controlled with a regular Trigger, but with the help from bodyfunctions like skinresistance (polygraph), a pulsesensor, microphone and a timeintervall from 30 minutes. Whenever, for example, my heartbeat is faster than a setted value, the camera makes a picture. After three measured days, all of the produced images are copied into a dynamic generated layout (via processing) and then printed out. From now the viewer can follow on the timeline my hole day I had.
Because the gadget had no regular or manual control options, it was a very uncommon uncontrollability for me. In this way, I created a „full-time“ monitoring: It was not possible to censor some of the situations during the day (like sitting on the toilet). The technology taking over controll and decided about the image relevance!
