OPEN SOUND BIKES
is an urban Soundinstallation linking bicycle-riders acustically with
eachother.
The german project name “3Klang-Rad” is created out of the words
“3-Klang” which means “triad” and “3-Gang-Rad” meaning a classical
bicycle with 3 gears.
By driving this kind of bike, sounds are beeing generated.
I was inspirated by listening to music while riding my bike:
My driving dynamics were related to the music I listened to;
In my fantasy I linked several parts of my bike with certain sounds
in the music.
I imagined, I would play the music through my driving and movement
just in that moment - a really cool game!
Out of this idea, I built a bike which is not only influencing
existing sounds but also could be used as an “instrument”.
The bike creats sounds depending on driving dynamics and
movements (Navigation, Speed, Cadence,…);
You can follow your biking-sound live via headphones.
