Bars are regularly visited by the same guests. People seek distraction, comfort and entertainment in this place, which is familiar to them, however not touched by their daily lifes and routines. Our concept is based on the polarity of familiarity and unfamiliarity or strangeness.
The bar is of black & white texture, which graphically reminds of the ornaments of a hand made table cloth.
The table cloth, ironically, stands as metaphor for a room that is as intimate as ones living room. When we sit down at the bar the pattern reacts to our actions. Like a living organism it reacts to outside signals. If the signal is weak, like those caused by touching, it turns to the centre of the interaction. Is it a strong signal, i.e. caused by putting the glass harshly down on the bar, it goes back to the original pattern.
Though this, familiarity of the usual surroundings is interrupted – by an element, which is unpredictable as well as an irritation.
