Concept:

Its is difficult to invent a common static orientation system which can be unsterstood by everyone. There always will be individuals who are not able to find the toilet, although it is directly behind them.

This is strange but this is HUMAN!

As a solution there should be a personal orientation system for every visitor of a building …A compass for everyone!

For visual orientation we looked precisely at common HUD (Head Up Displays), modified our impression
and giving our application some uncommon features...

Functions:

1. Numbered locations which are farer away. Blob into the inner circle if they come closer.
2. Your walking direction
3. Additional subinformations
4. By entering the «Ipunkt» area with a group, every member gets a number so you are always able to find the others.
5. Distance to the location
6. Close locations.

feature 01

If you need additional information about a location or etc. there is a «ticker» giving you the information you need.?You direct yourself to the location of your choice and the «ticker» will activate after five seconds if you are not moving.

feature 02

The circle size addapts itself to the speed you are walking with.?If you are running you are still able to use the navigation.

Technical Device

Software:

- processing (java)?- eyesweb
- osc

Hardware:

- Beamer
- modified Webcam (IR response)
- IR Cluster as a light source

Furture Aspect

Our work can be used at museums, entrance halls, fairs or in other big buildings / events where it is usefull to guide.
Providing a «newsticker» it could explain fine art paintings or products.

Generally the process of our work is not finished yet.
At the moment the application can be used by up to 15 people.
The tracking is working well but for additional work we need to test it in public.
