Eyes Wide Shut Detechnologisation of V-Joy (V-jay Tool) of Edward Müller

The focus in vjing should be the creation of mood though light and moving graphics. Due to the computertechnology it is possible to change clips, colours lightning intensity very fast corresponding to the music.
How would this be without this technology? How would this affect the performance of the artist?
With the help of a dia projector a disco globe, two sepia photo filters and some other simple instruments I tried to create a decent mood. Soon I realized that performing to fast club sounds was nearly impossible, because changing the filters and moving the tools was too slow to keep in track with the music.
So I decided to chose a nice valse (Shostakovitch´s 2nd valse form 2nd jazzsuite, known from the movie Eyes wide shut) and it was fine.

During the performance I noticed that the spectators concentrated more on me and on what I was doing with the tools more than on the result on screen. Of course it was not the typical club setting (Vj in the dark, people on the dancefloor) but the performanced put more emphasis on the performer himself. The connection between the action of the "VJ" and on what was going on on screen also was more obvious to the others.
A realy interesting experience.

the simple setup without the projector . During the performance the projector illumitates the globe and draws an blurred picture on the wall
