Media Extensions – Minimal media extensions in public space
New technologies leave ever increasing marks in public space. The gigantic poster blocks the view to the façade and dominates the public space. Oversized light-installations illuminate the town squares and the skies above it. Huge LED-screens send their commercial dispatch to the urban environment. This semester we want to re-conquer urban space by minimal media interventions by extending existing objects with economic means and intelligent ideas. The interventions have the goal to inspire passers-by to reflect and to react, the interventions should inform and entertain, as well as create individual identities for said locations.
